Thankful in 2020?

Thanksgiving is often a homecoming. This year, 2020, has changed the collective perspective of what it means to be home. What do we need from our home, and what do we want from our home? Some of us answered those questions with home organization and improvement projects. Some of us answered those questions by changing homes. Some of us answered those questions by becoming admirable bakers and home chefs.  Some of us answered those questions with a lap blanket, a warm cup of tea, and binge watching shows. Some of us answered those questions with healthy and unhealthy indulgences. Some of us answered those questions by bringing home new pets. Whatever you did this year, give yourselves a big hug.

2020 has not been an easy year. I know my 2020 vision did not include adding epidemiologist,  meteorologist, and soothsayer to my solopreneur skill sets. What does the Covid 19 curve look like today? Will today’s weather be safe to train dogs outdoors? Will I find an open public restroom between clients? Can I use a Magic 8 Ball to answer these questions?

So what am I thankful for this year? I’m thankful for my home’s basement which has become my training space. I’m thankful for my dog’s enthusiasm to work during our teletraining sessions. I’m thankful for accomplishments, big and small. I’m thankful for my amazing colleagues and clients. I’m thankful for you being part of Behavior United’s community. Thank you for making our community better. Thank you for meeting this moment and wearing pants during our online teletraining sessions. Thank you for training with me outside while wearing masks! Thank you for fostering and adopting pets. Thank you for advocating for your pets and helping them live their best lives by your side. I am thankful for all of your referrals and engagement on social media. Thank you for reaching out to me with your kind words of support and gratitude. To kick 2021 off right, I’m offering a four week class, Fun and Games, for $100. I’d be grateful to see you, your friends, and family there!
