Dogs and Decorations 2022

This is a video blog, vlog, about how to introduce your dogs to your decorations, new furniture, and furniture that’s been rearranged. If your dog isn’t ready for such an introduction, leashes, baby gates, and x-pens can help keep your home safe from dogsasters.

  1. Let your dog investigate, sniff, and look at decorations. It’s important to remain calm and not become hyper whenever the dog investigates decorations. If we get excited whenever the dog walks by the decorations, we’re drawing attention to the decorations and the dog is likely to become excited as well. Let your dog sniff and look at decorations.

  2. Reward your dog for voluntarily looking at you after investigating decorations. When your dog is around the decorations, say your dog’s name and reward your dog for looking at you.

  3. Leave It/Drop It need to be trained well before the decorations are unboxed. If you need to brush up on your dog’s leave it/drop it, and greeting guests, check out my Holiday Prep Package!

  4. If you have family heirlooms, sentimental, and valuable decorations that you would be heartbroken should they be damaged, put them away. Bring them out after your dog has matured and has the skills to be calm around decorations.

  5. If your dog is likely to chew a tree branch or other decorations, place x-pens/baby gates around these decorations. You can also spray bitter apple on items that will not be damaged by this product. Make sure to thoroughly wash your hands after using bitter apple. Ask me how I know!
